Tiene una mayor incidencia en ni\u00f1os que en ni\u00f1as, con una proporci\u00f3n estimada de 4 a 1. Existen pocas publicaciones que hablen sobre el S\u00edndrome de Asperger en ni\u00f1as y mujeres.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Los especialistas se\u00f1alan la dificultad de diagnosticarlas debido a que sus estrategias de compensaci\u00f3n suelen ser m\u00e1s eficaces que las de los ni\u00f1os. Desde muy peque\u00f1as emplean mucho esfuerzo en comprender las relaciones sociales, para ello utilizan la observaci\u00f3n, la imitaci\u00f3n, la cognici\u00f3n y la pr\u00e1ctica mediante el juego simb\u00f3lico.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Debido a que sus compa\u00f1eras de g\u00e9nero suelen tener actitudes m\u00e1s maternales que los chicos, es m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil que tengan alguna amiga \u00edntima y se encuentren m\u00e1s amparadas socialmente. Con lo que el criterio diagn\u00f3stico de incapacidad para establecer relaciones de amistad en las ni\u00f1as muchas veces no se cumple y habr\u00eda que valorar la alteraci\u00f3n cualitativa del mismo.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Como describe\u00a0 Liane Holliday Willey en su autobiograf\u00eda \u00abPretending to be normal\u00bb, utilizan mecanismos de imitaci\u00f3n y de manera superficial estas ni\u00f1as pueden parecer capacitadas para la interacci\u00f3n, pero si se profundiza se llega a la conclusi\u00f3n de que est\u00e1n interpretando un papel, siguiendo un gui\u00f3n social. Ocultan su incomprensi\u00f3n social evitando la participaci\u00f3n activa en clase con un buen comportamiento, pasando desapercibidas en grandes grupos, adem\u00e1s sus dificultades motoras son menos evidentes en el recreo y sus intereses en ocasiones menos peculiares\u2026<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Los intereses de las ni\u00f1as con S\u00edndrome de Asperger pueden ser los mismos que los de las ni\u00f1as de su edad, por ejemplo, coleccionar mu\u00f1ecas. Este inter\u00e9s estar\u00eda alterado cualitativamente si su colecci\u00f3n de mu\u00f1ecas es extensa, est\u00e1n colocadas siempre en un mismo orden y no las comparte con nadie. Eso si, las mu\u00f1ecas le servir\u00e1n como personajes en su escenario a salvo de imprevistos, para practicar las relaciones sociales.
